Why five high-profile placements disagree
A half-tier gap usually comes from mode, team, or investment assumptions. Use the deciding question instead of averaging the colors.
| Agent | Current spread | What decides it | Practical call |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sigrid | Top tier to just below top tier | Team shell, execution, and how heavily the list weighs her best matchup | Build her when you can support the full rotation; do not call her universal |
| Miyabi | S to high A across current lists | Existing investment, Frost team quality, and benchmark mode | Keep a finished build; reconsider only when the team itself is the problem |
| Yi Xuan | S to high A | Rupture-specific support, W-Engine, and player execution | Judge the complete shell instead of one solo damage clip |
| Promeia | S to A | Second Anomaly partner, enemy, and application order | Use the mode-specific team that you can actually build |
| Caesar King | A to lower utility tiers | Whether the ranking values fastest clears or safer clears | Use her when protection turns failed runs into completions |
Best first move for four common account states
The best Agent to own is not always the best Agent to build next. Start with the bottleneck visible on your account.
| Account state | First move | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| New account | Finish one damage core and use accessible Anby, Nicole, Lucy, Soukaku, or Piper where the role fits | Starting three limited S-Rank projects at once |
| One finished carry | Improve its Stun or Support partner before replacing the carry | Reading a tier change as an order to rebuild the whole team |
| Needs a second endgame team | Choose a core with different partners and favorable coverage for the other side | Taking the first team’s only support and leaving both teams incomplete |
| No signature W-Engines | Compare accessible engine options before committing to the most gear-sensitive Agent | Assuming a showcase result used the same equipment you own |
Current patch boundary: Version 3.1 Phase II
Version 3.1 launched on July 29, and its Phase II banner runs from August 19 through September 8. This ranking is frozen to that playable roster and was reviewed on September 3.
Version 3.2 is scheduled for September 9. Claret and Roxy appear in preview material, but preview kits and showcase footage are not enough to rank either Agent before the live version, full numbers, and real teams can be checked.
Pick by role before arguing over one tier letter
For direct damage, Ye Shunguang is the safest first name. For Anomaly, compare Remielle, Velina, and Aria against the Attributes and partners already owned. For Stun, Dialyn, Nangong Yu, and Norma create different team fits despite sharing the same broad job.
Support is just as account-specific. Astra Yao transfers well between teams, while Yuzuha, Sunna, and Lucia rise when the core uses their full kit. A lower-ranked matching support often improves a team more than a second high-ranked carry competing for field time.
Shiyu Defense and Deadly Assault do not reward identical rosters
Shiyu Defense emphasizes side composition, time, and reliable wave-to-boss execution. Deadly Assault changes the scoring question and can reward a specialist who is less attractive in a general ladder.
Enemy weakness, resistance, target movement, and the length of a damage window can reverse close placements. Read the role and caveat beside an Agent, then test the team on the mode you are actually trying to clear.
Use analytics as context, not as a pull command
The reviewed public analytics cover 19,512 Shiyu Defense profiles and 13,609 Deadly Assault profiles. That is useful evidence about teams people completed with, but it is not a randomized comparison of every player owning every Agent.
The sample excludes M1+ limited S-Ranks and is not normalized for ownership. New, free, popular, or expensive Agents enter with different ownership patterns, so usage alone cannot prove one pull has better value than another.
Turn the shortlist into a three-Agent team
Open the ZZZ team builder with the one or two Agents you plan to use. Check role coverage, shared tags, and possible Disorder structure, then return to the in-game kit to confirm each Additional Ability and rotation condition.
The builder deliberately does not assign a hidden team score. W-Engines, Drive Discs, Mindscapes, enemy data, and execution can overturn a simple roster match, so the tool helps expose questions rather than pretending to simulate damage it does not know.
Keep a built lower-tier Agent when the clear still works
A tier list compares current efficiency under stated assumptions. It does not refund the materials already invested in an Agent, and it cannot see whether that Agent is the reason your rotation feels natural.
Replace a finished unit only when the new project solves a measured problem: damage ceiling, Daze timing, application order, survival, or second-side roster conflict. A new color on a chart is not a measured problem.
Methodology and limits
This is a Version 3.1 Phase II consensus ranking for Shiyu Defense and Deadly Assault. It compares current role lists, public endgame analytics, team dependency, W-Engine and Mindscape sensitivity, and mode fit. The August 29 analytics sample covers 19,512 Shiyu Defense and 13,609 Deadly Assault profiles, but it excludes M1+ limited S-Ranks and is not ownership-normalized; usage is context, not pull value. Close placements remain grouped when the sources disagree.

Zenless Zone Zero tier list FAQ
Who is the best ZZZ Agent in Version 3.1?
There is no universal winner across roles. Ye Shunguang is the safest Crit-DPS anchor, Remielle, Velina, and Aria lead Anomaly, Dialyn, Nangong Yu, and Norma lead Stun, and Astra Yao, Yuzuha, Sunna, and Lucia lead Support.
Is Sigrid worth building?
Yes when you own the team and equipment for her full Ice Attack rotation. Current rankings disagree on whether she is absolute top tier, so treat her as an excellent team-dependent project rather than a universal answer.
Why is Miyabi not automatically number one?
Miyabi remains powerful, but current placement changes with mode, team, and existing investment. A finished Miyabi team can outperform a theoretically higher core that is missing its partners or gear.
Does this ZZZ tier list apply to both endgame modes?
It uses both Shiyu Defense and Deadly Assault, but the modes do not reward identical teams. Read the role and caveat for the specific enemy and side you are building.
Are Claret and Roxy ranked?
No. They are Version 3.2 preview Agents and remain unranked until the September 9 version is live and their real kits and teams can be tested.
Should I replace a built lower-tier Agent?
Only when a new project fixes a specific clear problem. If the existing team already clears reliably, improving a weak partner or second team is often better value.
