The 60-second old-build check
Run one pass on a stationary target and one on a player who is moving normally. You are looking for the first broken handoff, not a perfect damage number.
| Your old build relies on | Test this first | Keep it when | Change it when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kitsune or Empyrean Kitsune opener | Try the old Z opener against Instinct, then watch the X animation lock | Your next move still confirms without the old Instinct break | The target dodges the opener or escapes while X is channeling |
| Yama or Dragonheart pressure | Watch Instinct drain and the gap before your extender | The target stays caught without relying on the previous break or drain | Your combo only worked because the old interaction covered a gap |
| Skull Guitar or Sanguine setup | Repeat the approach from your normal spacing, not point-blank | The reduced hitbox or range does not affect your usual confirm | The opener now whiffs at the distance you actually fight from |
| Ghoul v4 sustain | Run the same trade and watch how much health the window returns | You still survive the counterattack with the lower lifesteal | The build depended on healing through damage instead of leaving safely |
| Gun pressure | Test M1 tracking, then your Kabucha or Venom Bow handoff | Aim Assist improves consistency without ruining the follow-up timing | The new stun or knockup behavior sends the target somewhere unexpected |
Why the old combo is dropping
The symptom usually tells you which single link deserves attention. Fix that link before spending on a replacement fruit, sword, or race.
| What you see | Likely patch interaction | Quick test | Smallest useful fix |
|---|---|---|---|
| The opener lands, but the target dodges move two | An Instinct break or drain changed | Repeat with the target’s Instinct ready and then empty | Use a confirmed break earlier or shorten the handoff |
| The combo works only when standing too close | Range or hitbox was reduced | Mark your normal starting distance and step in gradually | Move the setup closer instead of replacing the entire loadout |
| The target falls in a different spot | Knockup, landing, or pull behavior changed | Stop after the affected move and watch the landing three times | Aim the extender at the new landing point or swap only that extender |
| You get punished after a move that used to feel safe | End-lag, channeling, or cooldown changed | Cast the move alone and try to dash as soon as control returns | Use it as a punish rather than a blind opener |
| The route still lands but loses the damage race | Damage, sustain, or a defensive race window changed | Compare one full route and one safe exit—not a single hit | Change one damage or survival slot, then run the same test again |
Balance Patch 001 and Update 31.4 are two names for the same checkpoint
Gamer Robot’s official post is dated August 6 and names the release “The Summer PvP Patch Notes — Balance Patch 001.” Community update indexes often file that release under 31.4. The official name is the safer one to use when checking later notes; the number is useful when an older video or wiki page calls it Update 31.4.
This was a combat pass, not a new island or code drop. If you arrived looking for a new Summer PvP code, there was not one attached to this patch. The regular Blox Fruits codes page remains the place to check current XP and stat-reset codes.
Start with the opener, because that is where most “broken combo” reports begin
Kitsune and Empyrean Kitsune no longer get the same Instinct-breaking opener from Z, and both now have a channel commitment on X. Yama X also stopped breaking Instinct, while Dragonheart lost part of its early Instinct drain. A route can keep all of its old damage on paper and still fail because the target gets one dodge between move one and move two.
Do not test by dumping every skill. Land the opener, pause, and watch what the target can do. If the first handoff is clean, move to the extender. If it is not, you have already found the part worth replacing.
Give the buffed pieces a job, not an instant S-tier label
Dark, Dough, Quake, Spider, Ghost, Death Step, Dark Blade, Pole V2, Kabucha, and Venom Bow all gained something useful in the published notes. That makes them worth retesting; it does not make every one of them the best choice for every race, ping, or preferred range.
Pick a job before you test. Dark can be checked as an Instinct-breaking starter, Dough and Quake as wider confirms, Pole V2 and Kabucha as cleaner handoffs, and Death Step as a faster close-range piece. If the candidate does not solve the specific gap in your old route, the buff is interesting but not useful to your build.
Retest survival separately from damage
Ghoul v4 lifesteal dropped from 27% to 20% with one gear and from 37% to 30% with two, while its crows now drain Instinct instead of breaking it immediately. Shark v4 changed in a different direction: its timing and shield behavior were adjusted, including a shield that can scale up to 60% of maximum health.
Run one trade where you commit and one where you leave early. If the old route only survives by healing through the opponent’s counter, shorten it before changing fruit or sword. If the damage is fine but the exit fails, the race or disengage timing is the problem—not the combo’s first half.
Gun users should rebuild muscle memory before rebuilding inventory
All Gun M1 attacks gained Aim Assist. Kabucha Z now gives a short stun instead of its former knockup, Kabucha X has less end-lag, and Venom Bow X can still apply a one-second stun when Instinct-dodged. Those are meaningful timing changes even if the weapon stays in the same slot.
Practice the landing point and follow-up delay, not just raw aim. A combo guide recorded before the patch may point the extender at the old knockup path. Two minutes of watching where the target actually lands is cheaper than buying and mastering a replacement gun.
Change one slot, save the result, then change the next
Write down four things: opener, extender, finisher, and exit. Mark the first miss, change one piece, and run the same test again. This sounds slower than copying a new loadout, but it is usually faster than relearning four weapons only to discover the real problem was one Instinct interaction.
Keep a second version for live fights. Ping, terrain, race choice, and an opponent who knows the matchup can expose gaps a stationary target cannot. A build earns its place when the new route works more often for you—not when somebody else’s tier list says it should.
What the patch notes still cannot tell you
There is no absolute post-patch fruit tier list here. The Balance Log tells us what changed, but it does not measure your execution, ping, matchup spread, or the effect of a later patch. We also do not turn unlisted community “shadow changes” into confirmed facts without repeatable evidence.
There was no new code in Balance Patch 001. Existing codes can still work, expire, or return independently of the PvP update, so use the codes page for the live list rather than an old update article.
Methodology and limits
This is a migration guide for the August 6, 2026 Balance Patch 001, not a permanent PvP ranking. We compared Gamer Robot’s official Balance Log with the Beebom and AllThingsHow breakdowns, then grouped the changes by the problem a returning player actually sees in a fight. Exact live move cards and later balance logs take priority if another patch has landed since this page was checked.

Blox Fruits guide FAQ
Why does my old Blox Fruits combo miss after the Summer PvP update?
Start with the first handoff. Several Instinct, hitbox, range, knockup, and end-lag interactions changed, so one old link can fail while the rest of the route is still fine. Test the opener and extender separately before replacing the whole build.
Is Balance Patch 001 the same thing as Update 31.4?
Balance Patch 001 is Gamer Robot’s official name for the August 6 Summer PvP notes. Community update indexes commonly file the corresponding release as 31.4, which is why both names appear in searches and videos.
Should I drop Kitsune after the nerf?
Not automatically. Retest the Z opener against Instinct and the X channel timing. If your route still confirms consistently, there is no reason to replace a mastered fruit just because its old opener became less forgiving.
What should I test first on a Ghoul v4 build?
Repeat the same damage trade and watch whether the lower lifesteal still carries you through the counterattack. If survival is the only failure, shorten the route or improve the exit before changing the rest of the loadout.
Did the Summer PvP update add a new Blox Fruits code?
No. The sources checked for Balance Patch 001 agree that it did not add a new code. Check the separate Blox Fruits codes page for the current XP and stat-reset list.
What is the best fruit after Balance Patch 001?
The patch alone cannot settle one best fruit for every player. Match the fruit to your role, race, weapon handoff, ping, and preferred range, then test the actual route. Buffed means worth retesting; it does not mean automatic S tier.
